Following the declaration of the enhanced community quarantine over Luzon due to COVID-19, my team and I have been coordinating with groups of health workers out in the frontlines to find out what kind of support they need as they carry out the difficulty and risky task of saving people's lives. With medical supplies and equipment in high demand globally and short in supply locally, our team has been working to help augment the limited supply that they had - including medical gloves, N95 and surgical masks, ethyl alcohol, thermal scanners, and personal protective equipment (PPE), among others. We looked for suppliers, handlers, and kind-hearted donors to help fill in the needs of our modern-day heroes leading our fight against the novel coronavirus. Some of our health workers also requested for meals, to which we were more than happy to oblige.
We are very happy to update that, through our Pilipinas In Action initiative, we have successfully delivered the following to our health workers assigned to various hospitals:
1) 50 meals for health workers at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM);
2) 130 meals for our health workers at the Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH).
3) 10 pieces of BP manual apparatus with stethoscope and 10 pieces of pulse oximeter, also to health workers of UP-PGH;
4) 100 boxes of medical gloves to health workers of East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC);
In the coming days and weeks, we hope to continue supporting our health workers, and help them stay healthy to carry out their duty. Our team continues to accept pledges for our Pilipinas In Action initiative. We also aim to provide basic necessities like food and medicine to families in different barangays who need our support.
