Cebu's frontliners get moving with their brand new bikes

Cebu province emerged as a COVID-19 hotspot early on at the onset of the pandemic. Today, the province has been able to keep infections at a minimum - owing to strict safety measures implemented at the ground level.

At the forefront of the campaign to overcome the threat of the pandemic are the province's brave medical personnel and community frontliners.

Pilipinas In Action distributed a total of 40 brand new bikes for our modern-day heroes in the following localities: Cebu City (August 26), Talisay City (September 1), Mandaue City (September 4), and Liloan (September 7).

One of our beneficiaries was Lawrence Tesaluna, a Cebu City health volunteer. A bike enthusiast, Lawrence recalls joining one of the Bike for Hope advocacy rides organized by Senator Pia S. Cayetano in Cebu.

The 45-year-old father of six works at the NOAH isolation facility for Cebu City's recovering COVID-19 patients. His ultimate dream is for his children to have a good future. Having a bike of his own for his personal mobility is a positive step towards reaching his goals, he swears.

Health frontliner Lawrence Tesaluna of Cebu City.

It takes a great deal of courage to volunteer for such a difficult task, and so we commend Lawrence and the rest of our frontliners in Cebu for their contributions to keep their community healthy and safe.
